This one is perhaps too well known a story but deserves a mention nonetheless. The story of a hedge fund investor living in Boston, trying to help out his cousin living miles away, with math. The tutoring that began over phone calls got too tedious to schedule and while having a full-time job, Sal just recorded simple math tutorial videos that his cousin could just view on youtube. The videos were available for public view as it seemed they were something anyone could benefit from. What happened thereon was monumental and inspiring. They garnered immense viewership and demanded a full-time dedication from Sal who named it as we know. Today this non-profit online school is one of the most simple yet ingenious product discoveries that has such humility and empathy in it.
